The HKW Scharnhorststraße plant was to be extended by a CHP. The only possible
location was the, of the existing steel chimney, steam boiler. However, it had to be replaced with a 2-speed
one. Since the existing roof entrances were not allowed to be changed, the steel chimney was given an
internal foot flange and the flue gas connections were added on the construction site.
